Experiencing Problems Accessing or Navigating the Site?
Some hints and tips for navigation the ARXE Web Site
|
Some of our members have problems accessing or navigating the site. Still others have had difficulty in logging on to the site. You should first ensure that you are using a current version of internet Browser. We have had some issues with older versions not working with this site.
These items have been prepared to help resolve some of these problems. If you continue to have problems after following these tips, please contact the ARXE Webmaster for assistance.
Login Problems:
If you are trying to log on to the web site, and continue to receive the message "Sorry - your login information was not found - Try Again", it's probably because you either aren't using the correct username, which is your complete email address that was entered when you originally registered or last changed your registration, e.g. "name@mailbox.com", or the correct password. In either case, you can use the "Forgot Password" function and within a few minutes of the request, the site will resend your username and password to the email address that is in your membership file.
If you do not receive this authorization mail note, it is likely that the email address in the membership file is no longer correct and you will have to contact the ARXE Webmaster to correct it and have this information resent to you. It is up to you to keep the Personal Information in your membership file current. See below.
Login Information:
Your login information is sent to you in an email from this site to your email address in the membership files. If you have not received this or other emails from ARXE, first check to see if your ISP may be using a SPAM blocker which has not been set to allow email from us. Since email is the sole method of communicating to our members, it is particularly important that you enable your mail account at the ISP as well as the mail program on your computer to accept mail for our domain (arxe.org). ARXE mail notes may come to you from a number of different addresses within ARXE.ORG, thus making it important that you enable the entire domain (arxe.org) rather than simply one particular email address. If your ISP account uses what is referred to as a "Whitelist" of "Friendly List"(This is most notably the case for users who are using certain "portal" providers such as AOL, CompuServe and MSN.), you should be sure that our entire domain (arxe.org), or that all addresses from our domain are entered in your list. These addresses can be obtained from the Contact Us tab at the top of the web page (also include info@arxe.org to your list). The other alternative explanation is that the email address in our files is incorrect. This can be check using the "Forgot Password" function as described in the last section, "Login Problems" given above.
Updating your Personal Information:
Once on the home page, you will find your name at the top of the page beside the words "Edit your information" and clicking on your name which is displayed in red, you will have access to your file where you can revise any of the information in your file including your password, year of retirement, address, telephone number. In addition, you can opt in or out of the member directory by checking the box at the bottom of your file.
Exit the editing
by selecting the Save button at the bottom of the screen.
Site Navigation is Prohibited:
If you are having problems navigating on the site after you login, there a couple of probable reasons.
-
You are using a software firewall such as Zone Alarm and McAfee Personal Firewall. Both of these firewall require that you explicitly enable the www.ARXE.org web site. You should use your firewall's utilities to enable our web site on your computer. Alternatively, you can simply disable your firewall while you are visiting our site and then re-enabling it after you sign off.
-
You must have "cookies" enabled in your web browser. The site uses a cookie to continuously authenticate you as you navigate from page-to-page.
Like many web sites, ours uses cookies to keep track of your links as you navigate the site. You must either have your Privacy settings at Medium or below or you should explicitly allow cookies from the arxe.org site. Your symptom is precisely what I would expect if cookies are not enabled for our site.
Each browser (and there are many of them each with different versions) is somewhat different so I can’t give you precise directions. But most are similar enough so that you will likely have enough information from this message to accomplish it successfully.
Open your browser and select Tools from the Menu Bar.
Select Options or Internet Options
For Internet Explorer 7.0:
Select the Privacy tab
Select the Sites button
Enter ‘arxe.org’ (without the quotes) in the empty box
Select the ‘Allow’ Button
Select OK to back out of the Tools
For Firefox 3.0:
Select the Privacy icon
In the Cookies section, Select Exceptions
Enter ‘arxe.org’ (without the quotes) in the empty box
Select the ‘Allow’ Button
Select OK to back out of the Tools
You must close your browser and restart it in order for this change to take effect.
If you continue to have these problems or can’t get your browser reset, please consult your computer support person for assistance.

You may be using an incorrect password to login. If you continuously loop back to the login page, and there is a message saying "Sorry - your login information was not found - Try Again? ", use the "Forgot Password" function and the site will resend your password to the email address that you use to login.
-
Finally, it is remotely possible that you are using an older browser version and that the software for this website had been updated and rendered your current browser version inoperable. It is wise to stay relatively current with the various browsers as they add new features for security and functionality. We don't always know when our website vendor makes site software upgrades that might affect your navigation capabilities.
Problems Opening PDF Files:
If you are having problems when opening PDF files on the site and receive the error message: "Invalid function resource", you may not have the correct version of Adobe PDF Reader. If you do not have Version 5.0 or higher, you can download it for free at the following site:
.
If you have taken all of these precautions and you still are not receiving our mail or need your login information, please contact the ARXE Webmaster for assistance in resolving your problem. (Please be sure that your SPAM blocker recognizes webmaster@arxe.org as a valid "friend".)
